VISION & VALUES
Our Vision: Knowing Jesus and Making Him Known
We’re a community of people from many backgrounds and cultures, following Jesus together and welcoming people of all ages — with a special heart for children, youth, and families.
We believe the good news about Jesus changes everything — and we want to live like it. That means growing in our love for God, his Word, and the people around us, and sharing that good news with others. We want to be a church where every person is equipped to grow in faith, live on mission, and be a witness for Jesus right where they are.
Our Core Ministry Values
- God’s Word: The Bible is our authority for faith and life, and it stays at the centre of everything we do.
- Intimacy with God: We pursue a genuine, personal relationship with Jesus through worship, prayer, and time with him — not just activity, but real connection.
- Evangelism: Sharing Jesus isn’t optional — it’s central to who we are, both personally and as a church.
- People: People come before programs. We’re especially committed to investing in children, youth, and their families.
- Compassionate Service: We love to serve — and we want that service to flow from a genuine love for the people Jesus loves.
- Discipleship: We’re committed to being disciples who make disciples, following Jesus’ command in Matthew 28.
- Risk-Taking Obedience: We want to be a church that steps out in faith, trusting God more than our own comfort and security.

Our History
Arnold Community Church has been part of the Sumas Prairie since 1943, founded by immigrant farming families who put down roots — literally and spiritually — in rural Abbotsford. In those early days, baptisms took place in Stewart Creek in Yarrow, and weddings were whole-community celebrations.
By the 1970s, many families had moved to nearby cities and the congregation had shrunk. But the story wasn’t over. At a pivotal meeting in 1990, the remaining members made a courageous decision — to seek God for a fresh vision rather than close the doors. What followed was a genuine season of renewal, with steady growth that eventually led to a full building renovation in 2007.
Today, Arnold Community Church is over 80 years old — and very much alive. We’re a warm, diverse, and growing community of people of all ages, still rooted in the same Sumas Prairie our founders called home. Bible-centred teaching, contemporary worship, and a genuine sense of family are at the heart of who we are.
And honestly? We’re just getting started. We can’t wait to see what God has ahead.
